Opening of the 2024 Season!

The 2024 season started off with some classic maritime weather, with the majority of games getting rained out. Majority of games are set to be rescheduled for the weekend of Oct 5/6th. Despite the weather received, some games were able to take place on Sunday with SMU Travelling to UNB on Sunday, September 8th to kick off the ACBA Season! Game 1: SMU 2 UNB 3

Game 2:  SMU 4 UNB 5


One of the Sept 7th rescheduled games from SMU vs DAL was played on Sept 11th, and was a high scoring affair between the two teams.

SMU 2 UNB 3

Both teams were strong on the bump on Sunday, but UNB Reds defeated SMU Huskies 3-2. Cooper Fraser started the game for UNB Reds and recorded six outs.

UNB Reds didn't take the lead until later in the game. UNB Reds were down 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning when an error scored two runs.


A single by Brock Townsend put SMU Huskies on the board in the top of the first. Cam Weatherbee grounded out, which helped UNB Reds tie the game at one in the bottom of the fourth.


SMU Huskies took the lead in the top of the sixth. Logan Raftus singled, scoring one run, to give SMU Huskies the upper hand, 2-1.


Waylon Matchett earned the win for UNB Reds. The righty gave up zero hits and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one. Iain Warr pitched three and one-third innings in relief for UNB Reds. The hurler gave up three hits and one run while, striking out two and walking three. Lucas Taylor took the loss for SMU Huskies. The hurler went five and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on five hits, striking out five and walking none. Fraser started the game for UNB Reds. The starter surrendered one hit and one run over two innings, striking out three and walking two.


Leadoff hitter Michael Delong led UNB Reds with two hits in three at bats. Weatherbee led the team with one run batted in. Connor Hill stole two bases. UNB Reds ran wild on the base paths, accumulating three stolen bases for the game. UNB Reds turned one double play in the game. UNB Reds didn't commit a single error in the field. Weatherbee had the most chances in the field with eight.


Townsend and Raftus were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for SMU Huskies. Taylor went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead SMU Huskies in hits. It came down to the wire on Sunday, as UNB Reds grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 5-4, over SMU Huskies. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the seventh when Ryan Galbraith singled, scoring one run.


SMU Huskies opened the scoring in the first after Camilo Riesgo singled, scoring one run.


SMU Huskies added one run in the second. Kyle Sampson doubled, making the score 2-0.


A double by Michael Delong gave UNB Reds the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the fourth.


Logan Raftus doubled, which helped SMU Huskies tie the game at four in the top of the seventh.


Galbraith earned the win for UNB Reds. The righty surrendered two hits and one run over one-third of an inning, striking out none and walking none. Colton Maclaren took the loss for SMU Huskies. The lefty went one inning, surrendering one run (zero earned) on three hits, striking out one and walking none. Adam Wenzel led things off on the hill for UNB Reds. The starter allowed five hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking none. Brock Townsend started the game for SMU Huskies. The pitcher surrendered seven hits and four runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking one. Kyle Kennedy and Aidan McBurnie each appeared in relief for UNB Reds. UNB Reds tallied 10 hits in the game.


Delong went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Nick St Pierre went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead UNB Reds in hits. Connor Hill collected two hits for UNB Reds in four at bats. UNB Reds turned one double play in the game.


Sampson and Raftus each collected two hits for SMU Huskies. Riesgo, Sampson, Raftus, and Maclaren each drove in one run for SMU Huskies. Next up for UNB Reds is a game at Holland College Hurricanes on Saturday.

DAL 16 SMU 14


Despite seeing their 6-run lead whittled down by the end, DAL Tigers still held off for a 16-14 victory on Wednesday. SMU Huskies closed the gap by scoring on a single, an error, a ground out, a double, a single, a single, and a double.


DAL Tigers collected 14 hits and SMU Huskies had 15 in the high-scoring affair.


DAL Tigers opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to three doubles. DAL Tigers first got on the board when Nick Murray doubled, scoring two runs.


SMU Huskies tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a fielder's choice by Logan Raftus, a single by Justin Blanchard, and a sacrifice fly by Brad Howatt.


DAL Tigers flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 10-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Jack Randall that drove in two.


DAL Tigers added one run in the third after Ewan Galloway doubled.


Conrad Von Palleske hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the fifth for the DAL Tigers.


SMU Huskies made the score 14-12 in the bottom of the sixth after Zach Jenkins singled, scoring one run, and Brock Townsend doubled, scoring two runs.


DAL Tigers made the score 16-14 in the top of the seventh after Jordan Rovet doubled, scoring two runs, Xander Brown doubled, scoring one run, and Aidan Rittenberg singled, scoring one run.


Kiwean Song stepped on the mound first for DAL Tigers. The starter allowed five hits and five runs (two earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out one and walking none. Lucas Beange started the game for SMU Huskies. The starter gave up seven hits and eight runs over one inning, striking out none and walking one. Cameron Peters, Rovet, and Jevon Gaudett each appeared in relief for DAL Tigers.


DAL Tigers collected 14 hits in the game. Number eight hitter, Rovet, showed the depth of DAL Tigers's lineup, by leading them with three hits in four at bats. Rittenberg, Randall, and Von Palleske each collected multiple hits for DAL Tigers. DAL Tigers had patience at the plate, amassing nine walks for the game. Rittenberg, Randall, and Murray led the team with two free passes each.


SMU Huskies amassed 15 hits in the game. Townsend provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led SMU Huskies with three runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Kyle Sampson led SMU Huskies with four hits in five at bats from the leadoff position. Raftus and Jenkins each collected multiple hits for SMU Huskies. DAL Tigers play at home on Saturday against STFX X-Men in their next game.
